Meet the Directors

Patrick Flaniken

Mr. Flaniken is the Band Director for the "Pride of the Tribe."  He grew up near Corpus Christi, TX where he attended Gregory-Portland High School.  He holds a Bachelor's Of Music Education from Corpus Christi State University, now known as Texas A&M at Corpus Christi. He began his teaching career in Hearne ISD in January, 1993.  He then moved to Holland ISD before moving on to Woodsboro ISD.  After five years in Woodsboro, he moved to Houston where he was the Director of Bands at Hastings High School in Alief ISD.   He then came to Ganado, where he has served as Band Director since the 2003-2004 school year. 

Mr. Flaniken's primary instrument is Percussion.  He studied under Lalo Davila, Dale Pless and Dr. Norm Weinberg.  He is an alumni of the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps, with whom he played timpani.

 Mr. Flaniken is a member of the Texas Music Educator's Association, the Association of Texas Small School Bands,Texas Bandmasters Association,  the Association of Texas Professional Educators, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association.

Mr.Flaniken is married to Jamie Thackston Flaniken and they have four beautiful daughters and one handsome son.
